Secondo un analisi di mercato da parte degli NPD (National Purchase Diary Panel Inc.) Red Dead Redemption 2 è il gioco più venduto negli usa durante il 2018. Il record è stato però battuto solo durante il mese di dicembre, quando è stato superato dall’esclusiva per Nintendo Switch Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

L’industria videoludica ha visto anche un aumento di circa il 7% durante il 2018, per un totale di $7.1 miliardi, il più alto dal 2012 che ha visto il record di $7.5 miliardi. Red Dead Redemption 2, uscito ad ottobre, mantiene la leadership di vendita, seguito da Call of Duty: Black Ops IV al secondo posto, NBA 2K19 al terzo, Madden NFL 19 al quarto, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate al quinto e a seguire Marvel’s Spiderman, Far Cry 5,God of War, Monster Hunter: World e Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey.

Senza contare le copie in digitale

Mat Pischella, l’analista degli NPD avvisa però in un tweet che nella classifica non si è tenuto conto delle copie digitali di Call of Duty: Black Ops IV vendute su PC. La situazione effettiva potrebbe essere dunque differente.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, uno dei migliori lanci della storia dei videogames

Sebbene Red Dead Redemption 2 sia il gioco più venduto dell’anno, a detenere il record del miglior lancio è Super Smash Bros. Ultimate che batte addirittura lo storico lancio di Halo Reach nel 2010. Rockstar Games inoltre si conferma un’ottima software house mantendendo le vendite di Grand Theft Auto V ad un ottimo livello. Gta V si posiziona infatti all’undicesimo posto nella classifica. Considerando che si tratta di un gioco che ormai ha quasi sei anni, si tratta davvero di un ottimo risultato.

I giochi Nintendo sanno il fatto loro: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe si posiziona dodicesimo, Super Mario Odissey quindicesimo e The Legend Of Zelda Breath of the Wild diciassettesimo. Un ranking abbastanza alto per dei giochi usciti nel 2017.
